Can i use your scented fuel in a digital/electronic bioethanol fireplace?

Our scented fuel is not recommended for use in digital/electronic bioethanol fireplaces but our LOW ODOUR FUEL is suitable.

Why can't i see any fuel when i pour it into the fuel box?

The fuel box is designed to quickly absorb upto 1 ltr of fuel, preventing spillage if the fireplace is accidentally knocked. There is no need to add any more fuel. Never fill the fuel box past the "MAX" level at the base of the fuel box

Does bioethanol fuel evaporate?

If you find that there is still liquid underneath your burner after you turn off your fire, do not worry. There is nothing wrong with it and you will be able to use the fuel at a later date. It is important to note, however, that bioethanol fuel is mostly alcohol so it will evaporate over time.

In order to prevent evaporation it is a good idea to put only as much fuel as you intend to use into the fuel box at any one time. 

For example, if you wish to enjoy your ethanol fireplace for three and a half hours, you can pour one litre of fuel into the box (or even less if you intend to keep the box half-open). If you still have fuel left at the end of the session, you should close the lid of the fuel box to minimise evaporation.

How should i clean up any fuel spillage ?

Simple! Just wipe it up with a damp cloth and ensure that it is all cleared up before lighting your fireplace.

How much fuel should I put in the biofire?

You can put in as much fuel as you think you will need for the duration you intend to use it. Each of our bioethanol fires has different size steel fuelboxes, and all of them have a label indicating the maximum amount of bio fuel to fill the container with. However, you do not need to fill the fuel box to this point. Of course, the bioethanol fireplace needs a minimum amount of fuel to be able to create sufficient combustion to start the flame.

Does bioethanol fuel have any odour?

Many people claim that biofuel is odourless, but many years of experience and customer feedback tells us that there is actually a mild but not unpleasant odour when burning the fuel.  The precise odour varies from batch to batch of bioethanol but some customers say its the same degree as having a few candles burning, whilst we have even had some customers say its more like a mild coconut smell. Sometimes there is an odour as the fuel box needs “bedding in” but this subsides after a few uses.

Nevertheless, we now offer a LOW ODOUR fuel option and also 2 scented fuels, a subtle "VANILLA" fresh aroma and a "DEEP FOREST" aroma.

What is bioethanol fuel made of?

Biofuel is a class 3 flammable liquid, it is made up of bioethanol, a form of alcohol which is produced by the fermentation of sugars that originate from agricultural and forestry products such as wheat and potatoes. It burns virtually clean with no smoke, hence no need for a chimney or flue, although we do recommend that the room in which the fire is used is well ventilated (ie. dont use in any small rooms or those without natural ventilation.) We also recommend that you use only high quality bioethanol fuels that have at least 95% alcohol. Biofuel is also widely considered to be a more environmentally friendly fuel than many alternatives, such as fossil fuels. The biofuel sold on our site is specifically for use in our range of bio ethanol fireplaces.
